GAMBLE SANDS GOLF CLUB OPENS FOR PLAY SATURDAY, AUGUST 2

The much-anticipated Gamble Sands will open for public
play on Saturday, August 2. Set upon sweeping sand dunes overlooking the Colombia River, the Sands course at Gamble Sands will offer 18 holes of true links golf with traditional fine fescue grasses, wide fairways and massive greens. Golf course designer, David McLay Kidd, was called on to design the Sands course at Gamble Sands. With other acclaimed links courses such as Bandon Dunes and Tetherow under his belt, Kidd brings a wealth expertise in true links golf course design to Gamble Sands.

"This is the once-in-a-lifetime site every golf course designer dreams of: rolling sand dunes overlooking a large body of water, a developer willing to build golf just for the love of the game, no homes, no hotel, no other development around. Just golf on sand, golf as it was truly meant to be,"
said Kidd.

Gamble Sands is the brainchild of the Gebbers family, who have owned and operated one of the world's biggest apple and cherry orchards on the property since the late 1800s. The golf facility project lifted off the ground several years ago, but was halted at the time of the economic downturn in 2008. After much hard work and careful consideration, the golf course will open as planned on Saturday, August 2.

The opening comes at a bittersweet time when the surrounding communities are picking up the pieces after the devastating Carlton Complex wildfire.

"Our hearts go out to our community that has been impacted with the recent fire," said Tory Wulf, Project Manager. "We are thankful to be opening our doors and share something positive in light of the recent damage to the area."

Gamble Sands opens under the management of OB Sports Golf Management. "It is very gratifying to see this special project move forward," said Orrin Vincent, Northwest native and Founder of OB Sports Golf Management.

"Gamble Sands has all the makings of a destination golf experience such as Bandon Dunes on the coast or Sand Hills in Nebraska. It's that good."

Those sentiments are echoed by Kidd, who figures he has "no excuses" for creating anything less than a world-class golf destination after Cass Gebbers, the CEO of the family business, essentially handed him 600 acres to make what Kidd describes as "Pure, unadulterated golf."
